The Change

Yesterday I said I had some exciting stuff to share, but first let me preface with this: I'm not sure how you brides do it. I started this site in 2007 when blogs were still more of a supplement to the big kahuna of the wedding industry. The big kahuna being those monthly and quarterly bridal magazines, whose information within could be spread out upon weeks of casual bridal browsing or taken in all at once on an epic wedding magazine binge night. Whether you preferred to browse or binge, you were still forced to take a breather before the next round of newly printed issues arrived in your mailbox. Now, I wonder, if the breathers even exist. Do they, dear brides-to-be? The monthly magazines are still here (some of them, anyway), but there are weekly television shows, daily blogs, and forums updated every hour. Of course, I realize I'm not one to talk - hell, I throw this wedding stuff at you nearly every day. And I love you dear readers for sticking with me - even on the days I have really lousy posts. I love you, truly.

But I imagine this information overload must be overwhelming. It's like going to Whole Foods. So many wonderful things to see, to want, to love... In the end though, everything has a price tag and you have to make a choice. So many decisions and so many options.

The other evening I was discussing all this with my hubby and we started brainstorming about how we could "evolve" this little blog. Our brainstorming session churned out an idea that I am excited to share with you, but let me start by saying it's kind of scary putting this out there. There is a certain vulnerability in revealing something that comes from the heart and mind, but as I said in this post, it's important not to care what other people think.

Okay, here goes: I quite believe it's time for a place where a bride can rest. Not a real place, mind you, but a virtual place that eminates peace and friendship. A place to collect your thoughts, creativity, and just...breath. (Is it so corny? Too corny, perhaps?) I imagine this to be a place where there are no pictures of weddings (gasp!), no companies to sell products, and no decisions to make. Rather, it will be a place to calm the heart, mind, and soul of all you beautiful brides to be.

I'm not quite sure how this will manifest itself, whether it will be a drastic change to Eco and Elsie, or a sister blog hosted elsewhere. Whatever the case, I am excited to bring you along this journey of discovery and I'll be sure to update you on the progress.

Sounds like a wonderful idea! I'm not a bride, but I can only imagine the deluge of information & inspiration they're faced with (admittedly perpetrated by the likes of us)! Excited to see how this concept evolves. :-)

Sounds exciting! My bride days are almost over as the wedding is next Saturday, but I love this site and will be a frequent visitor no matter how the concepts evolve!

Thanks to both of you for your encouragement and sweet comments! I am excited about this new concept and hope to have something up towards the end of next week.
