Sea Glass

Imagine walking along the beach, enjoying the sand between the toes, when suddenly you notice something glimmering along the shoreline. You pick it up, feeling it's smooth surface between your fingers and notice it's semi-opaque color gently reflects the suns' rays. There's a good chance that what you've just found is sea glass, and depending on its color, could take you back over 100 years.

Fortunately, many people make a hobby out of collecting this glass and then create beautiful pieces of jewelry with it. According to Wikipedia, "Seaglass is one of the very few cases of a valuable item being created from the actions of the environment on man-made litter."

ShorelineSeaGlass carries a wonderful collection of unique, handmade jewelry (shown above), all created with natural sea glass found by the designer herself.

it's crazy to think something so beautiful can come from litter! I do love the starfish pendant though!

I have tons of lovely sea glass from the baie des anges Nice France.
How the heck do you drill a hole though??

Laura - I have no idea how to drill a hole, but I do think they make special drills for drilling into glass. I could be wrong though.

The sea glass can be drilled with a diamond-tipped drill bit, keeping the drill bit under water. Or the sea glass can be wire wrapped to create exquisite one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Either way, it's the perfect jewelry for a beach wedding!
