This is a little off the topic of weddings, but I figure everyone needs a break from wedding planning every now and then. Especially if you could win $3,000 out of it! Well, it's a $3,000 gift card from Sears, but hey, that's not too shabby. That means you could get one of those nice front loading, energy star compliant washers and dryers. They sure are purty. (Sigh...) Okay, anyway... the contest is sponsored by CBS News and Sears. They're looking for people to share their ideas on how to live a more earth friendly lifestyle. Given their desire to connect with regular folks, I hope this contest is the beginning of a trend to realize that you don't have to be a big corporation or government entity to make a positive environmental impact. To enter, all you have to do is send in a video or text document sharing what your green ideas and lifestyle changes are. There are five categories, each of which will have a winner. The categories are:
- Electricity/Energy
- Clean air in your home and neighborhood
- Clean water in your home and neighborhood
- Recycling
- Insulation
