I was delighted the other day to find an e-mail in my inbox from Mark Kingsdorf, owner of The Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants in Philladelphia, letting me know about one of his clients' eco friendly wedding. Featured on brides.com, this wedding had some really gorgeous details. The cake was made with organic butter, milk, flour, and sugar and was draped with lovely purple and yellow flowers (I think they are sugar flowers). The bridal bouquets pulled double duty and were used as decoration at the reception. Guests were treated to organic and, where possible, locally grown fruits and crudités at the cocktail hour and illustrated table cards were created without dates so the couple could reuse them in the future. Their handcrafted chuppah, with delicate orchids cascading around the sides, came from chuppah-house.com. And to top it off, the couple purchased carbon offsets and donated to a local non profit in lieu of favors.
