Gorgeous Earth Friendly Dresses!

Hemp isn't just for Woody Harrelson's suits anymore! How about a natural fiber wedding dress? If you're suddenly picturing a scratchy, rough, potato sack like material draped awkwardly around your waist, then it's time to think again. For years, Conscious Clothing has been making environmentally and ecologically sound "hemp/silk and hemp/tencel" wedding and bridal apparel out of their Santa Fe location. Hemp is a wonderful alternative to traditional clothing fibers because it is a clean and renewable resource, requires little water and NO chemicals, and yields four times the pulp compared to the same area of trees. If any of you brides out there have explored or are considering a hemp wedding dress, I'd love to hear your experiences.

I wish I had known about this company when I married in May of last year. I don't do silk (other than tussah) for ethical reasons, so it would have been nice to have some alternative to poly.

I know what you mean. Environmentally responsible wedding dresses aren't easy to come by, but I think some manufacturer's are starting to pay more attention to their environmental impact.
